Nov. '89 - Dec. '93 Owner / Photographer, Goff Photography, Sacramento, CA. Responsibilities: I own and operated an advertising and commercial photography business using the skills mentioned below in the summary. Closed business to follow and marry my wife Tammy.
April '94 - Jan. '96 Head Photographer, Flashbacks Photography, Stockton, CA.
Responsibilities: Main portrait photographer. Organized and was in charge of on-location shoots. Marketed and advertised my division. Oversaw the operation of the main studio. Production of brochures and magazines.
Feb. '94 - April '94 Studio Manager, Wal-Mart Portrait Studio, Stockton, CA.
Responsibilities: In charge of the portrait studio in all areas. Was the head photographer as well as the bookkeeper, trainer and personnel director.

Responsibilities: Oversaw the operation and maintenance of the shooting area
and lab of the photography studio. Also, I was the main assistant on shoots.

  Photography experience and skills:
  • Use of any format from 35mm to 8xlO. Composition and exposure.
  • Processing: B&W or color prints, film processing of negatives & transparencies and operation & maintenance of processing machines.
  • Lighting: Natural, strobe, flash fill, studio (Norman), portrait and architectural interior & exteriors.
  • Portraiture: Posing, lighting, putting subject at ease, makeup & hair and model releases.
  • Special Effects: Computer manipulation, color compensation, masking, lithos, filtration, painting with light and hand coloring of B&W prints.
  • Post Production: Retouching, framing & matting, layouts and handling & storage of film.

Business management and skills: 

  • Accounting: Inventory, accounts receivable & payable, payroll, profit & loss statements and filing of federal, state, property and sales taxes.
  • Personnel: Hiring & firing, subcontracting, talent coordination and the legal obligations to all of the above.
  • Sales: Invoicing, marketing & self-promotion, packaging, distribution and figuring cost / profit margins.
  • Contract negotiations: Estimates, usage & copyright protection, leases, talent, subcontractor and vendors.
  • Computer skills: Photoshop, web design, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, layout and publication. I also write most of the programs that I use for invoicing, estimates, accounting, etc.
